Cytopeutics Announces The Launch Of New Experience Centre, Officially Inaugurated By The Sultan Of Pahang

CYBERJAYA, 26 JUNE 2024: The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah graced the opening of the Cytopeutics Experience Centre here today.

Also present were the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Ilisha Ameera.

The opening of the Cytopeutics Experience Centre aims to enhance public knowledge of medical research, especially among the younger generation.
It also aims to inspire innovation in biotechnology based on cell and gene therapy to find new alternative treatments for diseases that currently have no cure. In his speech at the ceremony, Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed his admiration for the initiative and hoped that the centre would have a significant impact on Malaysians’ understanding and engagement with biotechnology.

“This initiative is also a game-changer for individuals over 65 to lead healthier lives,” said the Pahang Sultan.
His Royal Highness also expressed hope that future successes will not neglect the less fortunate.

“I hope the focus will not be solely on profit but make it a corporate social responsibility programme as well. Help those in need, especially the underprivileged, which can ultimately contribute to building a healthier society.
“Don’t limit these treatments to the elite group. Make them accessible to all. May this centre continue to progress and gain worldwide recognition to produce more scientists and experts in this field,” he added.

Cytopeutics has been commended for working tirelessly to ensure its stem cells are universally accepted, especially by the Muslim population. Today Cytopeutics’ stem cell is the World’s first Halal Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells or hUC-MSC endorsed by the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), also recognizes Cytopeutics’ hUC-MSC as Shariah-Compliant after meticulous scrutiny. These endorsements from both local and international regulatory bodies not only ensures accessibility for all patients, including the global Muslim population but also signifies a transformative era for the Halal bio economy industry promoted by Malaysia and opening doors to international markets.

Cytopeutics is the first group in Asia to have obtained multiple USA patents for mesenchymal stem cell treatments. Not only a pioneer in cell therapy and research within the Asia-Pacific region, global recognitions have also been stacking up in recent years for Prof. Chin and Cytopeutics. Cytopeutics is the only company from South East Asia to be highlighted as one of the top 10 biotech companies in the world in the Global Stem Cell Market Report.

Led by Professor Dr. Chin Sze Piaw, Cytopeutics is highly-regarded for its professionalism and adherence to regulatory compliance. This group is the first company in Malaysia to have obtained license for patients’ clinical investigational use. Prof. Chin has also been recognized as the first scientist from Asia to be presented with a major ISCT Global award for his significant contribution in the field of cell and gene therapy. This is a proud moment for Asia in general and particularly Malaysia.

The visit concluded with a call for all universities, research institutes, hospitals, and industry to come together in finding new cures, creating opportunities, retaining local talent, and making Malaysia a global hub for medical innovations and cell biotechnology.
