The initial increased insulin state results in increase in inflammation and deranged metabolic function.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12fc5b3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"12fc5b3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Methods<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e7fcb7f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e7fcb7f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">65 patients with uncontrolled diabetes were recruited. Diet, exercise and medications were not altered unless in medical emergencies. Total 50 &#8211; 100 \u00d7 10<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> C-MSC were infused over 1 or 2 sessions. Blood tests for glycated haemoglobin (Hbale marker of glycaemic control), high-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP, marker of inflammation), fasting LDL cholesterol (LDL-Chol), triglyceride (TG), gamma-glutamyl transaminase and aspartate transaminase (GGT and AST, both markers of fatty liver infiltration), serum creatinine (a marker of renal dysfunction), systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP and DBP) were measured at baseline and 6 months. Serum total testosterone was also measured in men only.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-58aaecf elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"58aaecf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Results<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5611e45 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5611e45\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All patients tolerated the procedure well. There was significant improvement of Hba1c (7.9\u00b12.0 vs. 7.4\u00b11.7%; p &lt; 0.001), TChol (4.7\u00b11.4 vs. 4.2\u00b11.0 mmol\/L: p = 0.01 ) LDL-Chol (2.5\u00b11.3 vs. 2.1\u00b11.0 mmol\/L; p = 0.01 ) and creatinine (107\u00b1115 vs. 97\u00b193 \u00b5mol\/L; p = 0.03 ) In men, there was also significant improvement in total testosterone (10.3vs. 12.3\u00b16.0 nmol\/L; p = 0.03 ) There were trends for improvement of hs-CRP, TG, AST and DBP. The reduction is Hba1c was most significant for very poorly controlled diabetics (9.4\u00b11.9 vs. 8.4\u00b11.8%; p &lt; 0.001) There was a modest inverse correlation between Hba1c and total testosterone (r = &#8211; 0.49, p &lt;0.001).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-57518cb elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"57518cb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-be488d4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"be488d4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Conclusions<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-671c997 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"671c997\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allogeneic C-MSC infusion is safe in diabetes patients and is associated with improvement in their metabolic functions including testosterone, cholesterol and renal function.
